Former Manchester United right-back Paul Parker was ‘disgusted’ with Andy Carroll’s tackle on Christian Eriksen over the weekend.

The tackle left the Dane injured — for at least three months — after he was seen leaving Old Trafford on crutches after the game.

Speaking to SpilXperten, Parker said: “I was at that game against Reading and I was disgusted by the tackle. It was a really disgusting tackle and it seemed like Andy Carroll was trying to make himself a Liverpool-legend with that tackle.

“It’s crazy that it wasn’t a red card. It should have been a red card and I’m not the kind of person who is advocating for more red cards in football but that tackle was outrageous.

“I think that Man United will be able to cope without Eriksen. He is a very important player but with Casemiro and now Sabitzer, Man United has the cover for him. But Eriksen will be missed a lot. He is one of the first players on the team sheet for Man United but Erik ten Hag seems to be able to replace his key players quite well.”

While Andy Carroll didn’t get booked for his tackle on Eriksen, he received two yellow cards later on in the game and was subsequently sent off.
