Paul Ince has been asked who he would support for today’s Premier League mega-clash at Anfield between Liverpool v Manchester United.

The former midfielder, who was one of a few players to cross the divide by playing for both United and Liverpool during his career, won’t be wearing any United or Liverpool scarves in the lead up to kick-off.

“I will probably wear my West Ham scarf,” Ince told Sky Sports (cited by HITC). “Just don’t stay on the same side.”

A safe response, although since he previously joined Liverpool after playing for United, I don’t think any of our fans will be miffed at the thought of Ince not donning a MUFC scarf.

I have my scarf wrapped around the TV to give the sitting room some colour.

Ince is one of two players to cross the divide during the Premier League era — Michael Owen did the same years later (2009) when he joined United as a free agent.

With three points up for grabs this is a golden opportunity to move six points clear of the Scousers.

That alone should be enough to motivate the players but as well as that, look at the injuries Liverpool have suffered this season… Do you think we’ll get a better chance than this again for another few years?
