According to multiple Major League Soccer sources, Paul Arriola will ‘definitely not’ be heading to Club América this month.

The Washington Post’s Steven Goff confirmed that Arriola withdrew his interest on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, according to MLS writer Tom Bogert, there is now an MLS-record trade deal between DC United and FC Dallas in place which would see $2m in General Allocation Money (GAM) head to the nation’s capital, in addition to other assets or incentives.

The previous record in a GAM-related trade was $1.2m, which New York Red Bulls sent to Inter Miami for young Scottish winger Lewis Morgan.

Bogert also claims that the deal would not go through until DC United line up Arriola’s replacement, meaning that Arriola could end up staying in DC if no agreement is reached.

The 42-time USMNT international has made 89 MLS appearances to date, contributing 20 goals and 16 assists.
