After almost 10 years at the club, Club América captain Paul Aguilar has been let go by the club.
Since the official announcement on 2 December, the player recently opened up about being unimpressed with his departure.
“I was disrespected for everything that I have been through at the club, ” said Aguilar in an exclusive interview with TUDN.
The 34-year-old right-back explained there were talks of extending his contract beyond 31 December put only with a significant salary cut.
“They wanted to offer me six more months but the reality is that they wanted to take 70 or 80 per cent of my salary.”
“It was correctly understood by both parties that we were not going to be able to reach an agreement.”
“There was never a push and pull dialogue … I think I did not deserve this”
Aguilar played in 357 matches scoring 14 goals and bagging 31 assists in the process.
He leaves having won three Liga MX titles, two CONCACAF Champions League titles and one Copa MX title.
The rumour mill has named MLS side Austin FC as the club looking to pick up the veteran defender.
