INEOS have not got many decisions right since they took control of football operations at Manchester United.

They have received massive criticism for their decisions, particularly their cost-cutting policies and keeping former manager Erik ten Hag despite the club’s poor form last term.

However, they have shown a desire to help United prepare for the future by signing the best youngsters worldwide.

The imminent arrival of Patrick Dorgu is further proof of this. The Danish defender will be the eighth U21 signing since INEOS acquired a stake in United.

Read on as we take a look at the U21 signings – including potential ones – United have made under INEOS.

Leny Yoro

The French defender joined from Lille last summer. He is rated as one of the best young defenders in Europe.

He was nominated for the Golden Boy award alongside United academy graduates Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.

The 19-year-old is yet to get his career going at United after starting just six games across all competitions.

He is a ball-playing defender and defensively astute and is expected to become a key player for United in the future.

Patrick Dorgu

The Denmark international is on the verge of completing a move to United.

He broke into Lecce’s first team last season and has not looked back. Dorgu can play in multiple positions but is expected to feature as a left wing-back at Man United.

He has an eye for goal, dribbles well and has good acceleration, making him suitable to play as a wing-back or winger.

Diego Leon

The Paraguayan youngster will officially join from Cerro Porteno this summer.

The revered football research group CIES Football rated him as the fourth-best U18 player in the world in August 2024.

Leon is known for his blistering pace, progressive runs and the ability to whip in crosses. He is also defensively resolute.

He has garnered first-team experience with Cerro Porteno, which may help him rapidly progress to United’s senior team.

Chido Obi-Martin

The Danish youngster joined for free after leaving Arsenal last summer. He is considered one of the best teenage strikers in England.

He has continued his remarkable goalscoring form with the Red Devils, scoring five goals in five U18 Premier League games.

The teenager was on the scoresheet as the U21s beat Oldham Athletic on Wednesday evening to finish the National League Cup group phase unbeaten.

Obi-Martin has been involved in some first-team training sessions. He is expected to become a pivotal player in the future.

Sekou Kone

The Malian midfielder joined the club on last summer’s transfer deadline day from Malian side Guidars FC.

Described as a ‘good player’ by the club’s U21 coach Travis Binnion, Kone is a deep-lying midfielder.

He can tackle, evade pressure, glide past the opposition midfield and pick the right pass. He is another potential future star for United.

Samuel Lusale

The talented forward joined the Red Devils from the Crystal Palace academy in September 2024.

He was recognised as one of London’s top 50 best youngsters alongside Obi-Martin in March 2024 by The Standard.

He has been described as a ‘tricky winger with an eye for goal,’ although he has yet to register a goal for United in the U18 Premier League.

Hubert Grazcyk

The 21-year-old Polish goalkeeper is another player United snatched away from Arsenal last summer.

He has featured three times in the Premier League 2 season. He trained with the first team ahead of the FA Cup clash with Arsenal and the league meeting with Southampton.

Grazcyk has first-team experience, having been on a loan deal with Slough Town in the 2023/2024 season.

James Overy

The young right-back joined Man United from Australian side Perth Glory.

He played with Perth’s first team before joining the Red Devils, featuring in a friendly match against West Ham United.

Overy has been described as ‘tenacious, aggressive going forward and very skilful with a great technique’.

He has been compared with Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro.

Ayden Heaven

The young centre-back will join from Arsenal and likely feature for the U21s.

He is regarded as one of the best youngsters in Arsenal’s Hale End Academy. He was also included in The Standard’s London’s top 50 best youngsters.

Heaven likes to ‘impose himself on matches with his physical presence’. He can also play in the midfield.

Geovany Quenda

The 17-year-old has been linked with United and will likely join the club in the summer.

He worked with manager Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP and is familiar with his system.

Quenda has bagged two goals and six assists across all competitions for Sporting this term and would be a superb acquisition for United.
