Dion Dublin has warned that Birmingham City fans won’t care about Tom Brady being a part of their ownership group if their on-pitch struggles continue.

The NFL star joined as part of the Blues’ ownership earlier this season, with the American getting involved in football following the end of his career as a quarterback.

The 46-year-old has a minority stake in the Championship side, having come to an agreement with majority shareholder Tom Wagner in August.

However, it has been a turbulent campaign on the pitch for the Midlands outfit, with the threat of relegation hanging over the team.

With just three games remaining in the regular season, Birmingham are still in danger of suffering the drop to League One.

Dublin believes that Birmingham supporters won’t be wowed by having a big-name owner if the team isn’t performing on the pitch.

He believes it doesn’t matter who is in charge, as results will always be the most important factor for supporters.

EFL betting, said: “I don't think the fans get excited, by having huge names attached to the club, especially the Blues fans.

“I think they'll get excited about how Tom Brady treats the club and how he treats the fans because they are a big club.

“But patience is running out among fans and whether you're Tom Brady or Tom Smith, they just want to see the club treated right.”

Wagner took over majority ownership of Birmingham last summer after a protracted sale process.

The Blues’ fanbase were excited by the prospect of new ownership due to the mismanagement of the previous regime.

But it has been a difficult first year for the US-businessman, who saw the supporters turn on him after sacking popular coach John Eustace in October.

Birmingham City league position

Eustace had guided the team to an early sixth place position in the table, but they have since slipped to 21st going into the final three games.

Gary Rowett is currently in charge until the end of the season, with the gap to the bottom three just one point.

Birmingham did announce plans to build a new stadium earlier this month, which will not be impacted by potential relegation to the third tier.

This does highlight the ambition of the new owners, and can be a point of excitement for supporters amid their poor campaign on the pitch.

Their final three games come against Rotherham United, Huddersfield Town and Norwich City.

Off-field excitement is overshadowed by poor results for Birmingham

There are reasons to be excited about the future of Birmingham if you look at the plans put in place for a brand new stadium.

However, it will be overshadowed by the poor results on the pitch, and the mismanagement of the first team squad.

The decision to appoint Wayne Rooney for Eustace in October proved disastrous, and could now lead to their relegation to League One.

That could be a very costly lesson for Wagner to learn, as it is clear he was attracted by the idea of a big name, rather than finding the right person for the job.
