Following St Étienne’s 2-1 victory over Clermont yesterday, Les Verts’ boss Pascal Dupraz had some harsh words for his opposite number, Pascal Gastien, as reported by RMC Sport.
Having gained their 3rd victory in a row, taking St Étienne out of the relegation zone, Dupraz was satisfied to have “outwitted this Clermont team that claims to take inspiration from Pep Guardiola.”
Having trailed for a majority of the game, Les Verts were able to come back from 1-0 down with goals arriving in the 71st and 82nd minute.
“I’m glad to have shown Pascal Gastien that a mountain man can get his team to play,” said Dupraz, who hails from the mountainous region of Haute-Savoie. “He’s a good lad but he’s not ‘fair play’. He’s always whining, permanently, it’s annoying.”
Dupraz eventually returned to the matter of his own team, praising his squad: “the players performed admirably especially at the end when we weren’t in control of the second half. We’ve got to stay careful with 14 matches left to play.”
