Thomas Partey is expected to reject several lucrative approaches from abroad in favour of extending his stay at Arsenal, with fresh talks over a new contract already underway.
The Ghana international, whose current deal expires at the end of June, has informed close associates of his desire to remain at Emirates Stadium and is hoping to resolve his future before the season draws to a close. While nothing has been finalised, the 31-year-old is thought to be prioritising a new contract at Arsenal despite having options across Europe and in Saudi Arabia.
Discussions between Arsenal and Partey’s representatives have taken place in recent weeks, and although the outcome is still pending, all parties remain hopeful a resolution can be reached.
Partey, signed from Atlético Madrid for around £45 million in 2020, has rediscovered some of his best form this campaign, playing a pivotal role in Arsenal’s title challenge and impressing in key fixtures. His consistent performances have reignited interest from former club Atlético, as well as Barcelona and Juventus. Meanwhile, clubs from the Saudi Pro League are understood to be willing to offer substantial financial packages in a bid to lure him away.
However, Partey’s preference is to remain in north London. “He wants to stay at Arsenal,” a source close to the situation said, adding that the midfielder hopes for clarity before the Gunners’ final Premier League fixture.
Should talks stretch beyond the end of the domestic season, the player is still expected to prioritise Arsenal over other suitors, barring a dramatic change in circumstances.

Arsenal’s midfield could undergo further changes this summer, with Jorginho’s future also unresolved. The Italian international, 33, is out of contract next month and has yet to agree an extension. Brazilian side Flamengo have made an offer for the former Chelsea man, reportedly including a two-year deal.
Jorginho came close to leaving the Emirates last summer but instead signed a one-year extension. This time, however, the prospect of regular minutes and long-term security elsewhere could see him depart.
In anticipation of potential departures, Arsenal are monitoring several midfield targets. One of the names at the top of their shortlist is Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi. The Spanish international has a release clause of around £50 million and is widely expected to make a move this summer.
Arsenal enjoy a positive relationship with Real Sociedad, having successfully negotiated the signing of Mikel Merino last year for approximately £30 million. That established rapport could aid negotiations for Zubimendi, should Arsenal decide to activate his clause.
Zubimendi has drawn interest from Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Real Madrid, but Arsenal remain firmly in the mix as they look to refresh their midfield options while retaining core figures like Partey.
