Parma’s much-anticipated return to Serie A began on a brilliant note. The Ducali earned a draw against Fiorentina and then they stunned Milan with a 2-1 win, but their unlucky last-gasp defeat against Napoli on matchday 3 kickstarted a long winless run that only ended a few weeks ago with a victory in Venezia. In their most recent outing, they were soundly beaten at home by Atalanta.
The Crociati currently sit 14th in the table with 12 points from 13 rounds, but some would argue they should have collected more but have been impeded by the lack of experience of their young squad.
Lazio’s seven-match winning streak across all competitions came to a sudden halt on Thursday when they settled for a goalless draw against Ludogorets. Nevertheless, the Biancocelesti remain on top of the Europa League table, and still have five victories on the bounce in Serie A. Their recent victim list includes Genoa, Como, Cagliari, Monza and Bologna.
Marco Baroni’s men start the weekend fifth in the Serie A table, only behind Atalanta, Inter and Fiorentina on goal difference, and with a single point separating them from league leaders Napoli. So technically speaking, Lazio could end the round on top of the charts, but they will first have to deal with their Emilian hosts.
