Former Gunner Gervinho is training alone after trying to force a move from Parma to Qatari club Al-Sadd at the end of the January transfer window.

Parma winger Gervinho is not one for settling in one place in his senior career so far. He spent two seasons with the Beveren first-team, Le Mans, Lille and Arsenal, three with AS Roma, two years with Hebei CFFC and one-and-a-half with Parma.

It seems the 32-year-old decided he’d had enough again in January, trying to push through a move to Al-Sadd in Qatar. He missed training on multiple occasions to force his current club’s hand.

Parma and Al-Sadd hoped they could complete a deal on deadline day, but it didn’t go through in time. As a result, Gervinho is stuck with his current club, and they’re punishing his recent strike.

“After unjustifiably missing training repeatedly last week, Parma can confirm that Gervinho will follow an individual training plan under the orders of the club’s technical staff,” the club wrote in a statement.

Gervinho was having a decent season with Parma before this, bar a few minor injury concerns. He’s up to six goals and three assists in 18 appearances. He only appeared for seven minutes in Parma’s six games in 2020 so far though.

Whether there’s a way back into the side after this, we’ll see. If the winger works hard in training and looks threatening, he’s sure to get another chance.
