The Park’s Motor Group Scottish Women’s Premier League saw Hibernian deny Celtic victory in the last minute and Glasgow City leave it late against Hamilton Academical.

SWPL 1

Aberdeen 2-3 Spartans Glasgow City 1-0 Hamilton Academical Hibernian 1-1 Celtic Motherwell 2-2 Partick Thistle Hearts 0-5 Rangers

Rangers won 5-0 at Hearts with the help of a Jane Ross first-half double to stay two points ahead of Glasgow City, who were narrow winners over Hamilton thanks to a debut goal three minutes from time by Kerry Beattie.

Celtic are seven points behind the leaders after being held 1-1 at Hibernian, where Hibs’ keeper Emily Mutch saved a Chloe Craig penalty and Charlie Wellings put the Hoops ahead, only for Ellis Notley to net a last-minute equaliser.

Spartans are up to fifth after coming back from two down for a 3-2 result at Aberdeen, a hat-trick of assists from Alana Marshall seeing Becky Galbraith bag a brace and Caley Gibb the other goal.

Motherwell drew 2-2 with Partick, Cara McBrearty having opened the scoring for Thistle before Amy Anderson and Kaela McDonald-Nguah turned the game around, only for Clare Docherty to level 20 minutes from time.

Glasgow Women 8-1 Stirling University St Johnstone 1-4 Dundee United

Dundee United maintained a six-point lead at the top with a 4-1 win at St Johnstone, Neve Guthrie scoring twice after the home side had equalised. Second-placed Glasgow Women stung Stirling University 8-1.

Scottish Women’s Cup 3rd Round

Dryburgh Athletic 0-4 Kilmarnock

SWF Championship Cup winners Dryburgh Athletic were defeated 4-0 by SWPL 2 side Kilmarnock, Lisa Swanson with a brace as Killie secured a fourth round tie with either Livingston or Montrose.

Wednesday 19 January sees Edinburgh City take on Celtic in the Scottish Women’s Cup 3rd Round, kick off 7.45pm at Foresters Park in Tranent. City sit second in the SWF Championship South on goal-difference, despite a 15-1 win at St Mirren on Sunday.
