Jess Park’s stunning strike against Arsenal in our enthralling opening day draw has been nominated for September’s Barclays Women’s Super League Goal of the Month award.
After Vivianne Miedema cancelled out Frida Maanum’s opener before half-time in north London, the England international spectacularly handed City the lead with a fizzing half-volley from the edge of the box which crashed into the net via the crossbar.
It was exactly what Gareth Taylor’s side deserved for a strong display throughout an intense encounter.
The spoils were ultimately shared following Beth Mead’s late leveller at the Emirates Stadium, but Park’s wonderful effort was certainly the pick of the bunch in the capital.
And the 22-year-old’s goal has now been shortlisted for the first WSL Goal of the Month award of the term alongside Chelsea’s Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Brighton’s Kiko Seike, Manchester United’s Leah Galton, Tottenham’s Olga Ahtinen, Liverpool’s Olivia Smith and Aston Villa’s Adriana Leon.
Voting is now open, but closes on Monday 7 October at 12:00 (UK). Click here to cast yours!
