Parc des Princes forms the backdrop for the most high-profile Champions League opening-round showdown as Paris Saint-Germain meet Juventus in home comforts.
Despite boasting a star-studded squad and tremendous strength in depth, Champions League glory has proven elusive for the ten-time Ligue 1 winners.
Following a blistering six-match start to the new domestic championship (W5, D1), Christophe Galtier’s men look to have laid the foundation for a record-breaking 11th title in the French top flight.
However, everyone in Paris is still crying out for maiden continental success.
With Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar enjoying the most prolific spell of their formidable partnership, this could be the season to define PSG’s European legacy.
In other circumstances, Juventus would be fancied more heavily to interrupt the French juggernauts’ purple patch, but Massimiliano Allegri’s lads are experiencing a faltering period.
After finishing fourth in Serie A across the last two seasons, the record-time Italian champions have drawn three of their opening five league games, winning the other two.
Don’t let their unbeaten Serie A start trick you into believing they are performing in accordance with their household status because that’s not been the case.
Enraged by their side’s underwhelming showings, Bianconeri fans are urging the Allianz Stadium hierarchy to relieve Allegri of his duties as Juventus continue to play under every expectation.
Paris Saint-Germain
Odds-on favourites to finish top of Group H, ahead of Benfica, Hapoel Be’er Sheva and Juventus, PSG are looking to make it through the Champions League group stages for the 11th successive season.
Adding to this sentiment, Les Parisiens have only lost one of their last 30 home matches in the Champions League group phase (W24, D5), winning all three in last season’s edition via an aggregate score of 9-2.
Mbappe, who scored on either side of half-time in PSG’s 3-0 thumping of Nantes on Saturday, will be out to find the net in a fifth consecutive Champions League appearance for the first time.
Juventus
Juventus eked out a 1-1 draw at Fiorentina over the weekend despite scoring from their only attempt on goal, but it’s worth noting Dusan Vlahovic spent the game on the bench.
The Serbian goal-getter has been a rare shining light in the Italians’ dismal Serie A start, racking up four goals, including two sublime free-kicks against Roma and Spezia.
But it’s hard to believe that Vlahovic alone would be enough to help Juventus build on their stellar Champions League group phase run that’s seen them win 15 of their last 17 fixtures at this stage at the tournament.
Paris Saint-Germain (3-4-3): Keylor Navas; Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe; Achraf Hakimi, Renato Sanches, Marco Verratti, Juan Bernat; Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar.
Juventus (4-3-3): Mattia Perin; Danilo, Leonardo Bonucci, Gleison Bremer, Alex Sandro; Manuel Locatelli, Leandro Paredes, Weston McKennie; Angel Di Maria, Filip Kostic, Dusan Vlahovic.

PSG will take the field hugely motivated to defy their embarrassing eight-match winless record against Juventus in major European competitions (D2, L6).
Given the intimidating attacking potential at Galtier’s disposal and the Italians’ lacklustre performances against sub-par domestic rivals, we back the Ligue 1 powerhouse to succeed in their mission.
