The 19-year-old turned out to be a revelation in his debut season in Ligue 1, playing a key role in Les Parisiens retaining the league title from Lille.

The Portuguese prodigy appeared for 40 games in all competitions and was also named the best left-back in the league.

His impressive performances have led PSG to activate his permanent clause, tying him to the club until 2026.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the transfer has cost €40 million for the French giants.

Mendes has also become a regular for the Portuguese national team, having earned 13 caps while making his debut last year.

The 19-year-old is expected to play an even more important role next season as Les Parisiens look to change their fortunes in the Champions League and continue their domestic dominance.

The announcement of Mendes follows after the contract extension of Kylian Mbappe, who has penned a new deal until 2025 amid a turbulent transfer saga.

The French world cup winner once looked on his way out to join long-time suitors Real Madrid come the summer, but PSG convinced him to stay at the capital club by presenting a bumper offer.

Next up, PSG are looking to replace sporting director Leonardo with Luis Campos, while Mauricio Pochettino’s future is also said to be over.

Zinedine Zidane, Thiago Motta, Sergio Conceicao and Ruben Amorim are the top candidates for the managerial job.
