Paris FC secured promotion to Ligue 1 following a 1-1 draw with FC Martigues at the Stade Françis-Turcan, meaning that for the first time in 46 years the club will return to the top flight of French football.
Their rise up the Ligue 2 table has coincided with the midseason takeover from the billionaire Arnault family and Red Bull. Their new riches saw the club spend sensibly in the winter transfer window as they strengthened rather than changed a promotion-chasing squad.
However, the club will have a significant increase in their budget from next season, with L’Équipe writing that the current operating cost of €30 million is likely to double, at the very minimum.
The French outlet predicts that Paris will have a budget of between €70-100 million in their first season back in Ligue 1. For comparison, a team like FC Nantes reportedly have a budget of around €80 million.
