All you need to know about the football action in Paris this summer

Hosts France are among the teams to look out for in the football tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games.

The Paris Games will see 16 men’s teams from six confederations go for Olympics glory, with 12 teams in the women’s tournament.

Thierry Henry will oversee the French squad going for glory, while world champions Argentina and newly-crowed European kings Spain will also be represented.

Canada are the defending women’s champions but Spain have lifted the World Cup to emerge as one of the favourites. The United States, meanwhile, will be looking for redemption after their humbling in Australia last year.

In the men’s tournament, the top two out of each group will progress into the quarter-finals.

The women’s tournament will see the top two from each group progress and the two best-third placed teams will join them in the quarter-finals.
