On the front-page headline of Thursday Mundo Deportivo is a statement that seemed unlikely two weeks ago. The information has once again reignited links between Haaland and Barcelona.

Three days ago, Rafa Yuste, the vice president of the club, publicly stated that the signing of Erling Haaland from Borrusia Dortmund this year was discarded owing to the disastrous economic situation of the club.

Yet, the next day once again brought hopes to the streets of Barcelona in the news that the club had received several financing options to make the dream a reality. Multiple firms were convinced that the Norwegian’s arrival at the club would provide a significant boost in both the short and long term.

That said, several institutions were willing to provide the club with the required finances to bring the young sensation to Camp Nou.

As of today, Barcelona are apparently preparing for the war for Erling Haaland. The war will be contented by several of Europe’s elite, including Manchester City, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain and Liverpool.

The striker is considered an exceptional and gifted player who could be generational. The club is trying to work out possible formulas to enter this bidding war and come out on top.

The player’s €75 million release clause will be open for activation in the coming summer, given the fact that he is on his final contract year at Dortmund. Needless to say, his move away from Germany almost seems a certainty at this point.
