Ouest-France report that 21-year-old central midfielder Pape Gueye has an agreement in principle with Ligue 1 side Angers, to move from Le Havre this summer.
The midfield talent has become entangled in an awkward transfer situation, with Premier League side Watford formally announcing his arrival at their club and the player formally announcing an end to all contractual ties with the London side.
The local outlet claims that the player even visited Le SCO’s facilities last month ahead of a possible move.
At the moment, Angers, who are looking to Gueye as the perfect replacement for the departing Baptiste Santamaria, are remaining prudent – they know that there is likely a major legal battle set to occur between Gueye and Watford over the bizarre events that have led to Gueye signing a pre-contract for a 5-year deal with the Premier League side only to announce he won’t play for the club.
Mohamed Toubache-TER suggests that the Hornets want to wash their hands with this matter and that a contractual clause may allow the player to leave them days after signing for them for €5m – a fee that Le SCO could afford to pay.
