The Panama national team pulled off one of the greatest victories in their nation's history on Thursday night. And former France and Arsenal star Thierry Henry had an intimate view of the celebrations.

Henry was pitchside as an analyst for Paramount+ coverage of the Concacaf Nations League semifinals at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium on Thursday night.

And when Cecilio Waterman gave Los Canaleros a shock late winner in a 1-0 victory over the United States men's national team, there was only one man he wanted to celebrate with: the former Premier League, La Liga, Champions League and World Cup champion.

Waterman's goal came on the Panamanians' first shot on goal of the contest. But manager Thomas Christiansen's men were resolute in their defending against an American team without its top two strikers, as well as influential left back Antonee Robinson.

And as stunning as the result may have been, it should't have been for a U.S. team that has struggled notably against the Panamanians in recent years.

Panama has now won the last three compeittive fixtures against the U.S., including a 2-1 victory in Copa America group play last year that ultimately spelled the end of the line for former manager Gregg Berhalter.

The Americans were more dominant in the second half than a relatively even first, but the absences of injured forwards Ricardo Pepi and Falorin Balogun proved important.

Patrick Agyemang had the USMNT's best chances of the second half. But Orlando Mosquera denied one promising look on the break. And then on a more difficult chance, his first-time effort redirected off his own plant leg and over the crossbar after Christian Pulisic found him with a cutback cross.

Panama's win means there will be a new Concacaf Nations League champion, with either Mexico or Canada to face Los Canaleros in Sunday's final. The USMNT had won the competition's first three editions, twice beeting Mexico in the final and once triumphing over Canada.
