Two sides who have reached the knockouts stages of the Copa Libertadores, but have also endured difficult starts on the domestic front.

Flamengo seem to have turned the tide on their league form, with back-to-back wins over Goiás and Fluminense lifting them into the top half of the table.

Basement side Fortaleza, who are still waiting for their reversal of fortune, have just two points to their credit to date.

Palmeiras v Atlético Minéiro (Sunday)

The current Copa Libertadores champions host the Brasileirão holders in a highly anticipated encounter at Allianz Parque.

Palmeiras lead the way so far this term, but only on goal difference from Atlético and Corinthians as all three team sit on 15 points.

The hosts will be somewhat weakened, as Weverton, Gustavo Gómez and Danilo are all unavailable. Atlético make the trip without left-back Guilherme Arana.

América-MG v Cuiabá (Saturday)

América-MG put their unbeaten home record on the line against struggling Cuiabá.

While the visitors sit just inside the relegation zone, their only two league wins this season have come on the road.

Something may have to give at the Estádio Raimundo Sampaio.

Athletico Paranaense v Santos (Saturday)

Athletico Paranaense will look to ride their recent winning streak that has seen them rise to sixth in the tabel.

The Furacão have been successful in their last four games in all competitions, as manager Luiz Felipe Scolari’s methods are beginning to bear fruit.

Santos have an awful away record so far, with their sole point on their travels coming in a stalemate at Fluminense on the opening day.

Coritiba v Ceará (Saturday)

Coritiba will be hoping to maintain their place in the top after an encouraging opening period. Victory over Goiás last weekend leaves them just two points off the three-way leaders.

Ceará will be on a high after their Clássico-Rei win at Fortaleza in midweek, even if their derby rivals played most of the game with 10 men after Felipe’s dismissal in the 20th minute.

Avaí v São Paulo (Saturday)

Both sides will be looking to get back to winning ways at the Ressacada after recent slumps.

Avaí had a superb start to the season, but three defeats on the trot now has them sitting just outside the top 12.

São Paulo lost their spot in the top four following last weekend’s disappointing 2-2 draw with lowly Ceará.

Atlético Goianiense v Corinthians (Saturday)

Three points will be the goal for vastly different reasons when Atlético Goianiense entertain Corinthians.

The hosts are currently mired in the relegation zone, but a win could lift them out of the bottom four depending on other results.

Corinthians are on a frustrating run of three consecutive three draws, but will be looking to take advantage of the fact that the meeting of Palmeiras and Atlético Mineiro ensures at least one of their fellow front runners will lose ground.

Juventude v Fluminense (Sunday)

Fluminense will have spent the week be licking their wounds in the wake of the derby defeat to Flamengo.

On the bright side, one win can make a huge difference to a side’s prospects given the condensed nature of the table at the moment.

They will hope to find Juventude in accommodating mood, as Eduardo Baptista’s charges have the leakiest defence in the league having shipped 14 goals already.

Bragantino v Internacional (Sunday)

There was disappointment in midweek for Bragantino as they exited the Copa do Brasil in the third round after coming out on the wrong side of a penalty shootout with Goiás.

Internacional have only lost one league game to date, but have been hindered by their league-leading five draws.

Botafogo v Goiás (Monday)

Rounding off the schedule will be the clash of Botafogo and Goiás at the Estádio Nilton Santos on Monday.

Neither side have won in their last two outings, but Goiás do have the benefit of that dramatic cup success in midweek.

We look forward to another weekend of brilliant Brasileirão entertainment!
