Palmeiras scored four second-half goals, including three in a six-minute span, as they rolled to a 4-0 victory over América-MG.

Luan, Willian, Dudu, and Deyverson all scored as Palmeiras extended their unbeaten streak in the Brasileirão to 21 matches.

The loss kept América-MG in the relegation zone on 37 points, one point from safety, with just two games to play.

Palmeiras had a chance to win their second Brasileirão title in three years, but Flamengo defeated Grêmio 2-0 to force the Verdão to wait until this weekend’s duel with Vasco to potentially lift the trophy.

The home side outshot América-MG 24-1 on the night, though João Ricardo kept Palmeiras off the board until just before the hour-mark.

Luan would finally score in the 59th minute, though the goal came in controversial fashion.

Though replays confirmed the goal should have been ruled offside, the centre-back turned in the deflected cross to finally give the home side a deserved lead.

Palmeiras would ice the match in the 76th minute after some clever work in the box.

After Dudu’s original shot was blocked, the attacker laid the ball off to Willian, who provided a calm finish to double the Verdão’s lead.

Just two minutes later, Dudu would hit a rocket to make it 3-0.

After Bruno Henrique supplied him a decent ball over the top, Dudu smashed his effort into the top corner to put the match out of reach.

Four minutes later, the firey Dayverson headed in the fourth goal of the night after a fantastic cross from Mayke.

Palmeiras will win the title this weekend if they defeat Vasco or if Flamengo fails to win at Cruzeiro.

América-MG are on thin ice and in serious danger of being relegated. With two games to play, they’re in 17th place ahead of their duel with Bahia.
