Raffaele Palladino hints that he is leaving Monza at the end of the season, but it is not decided, while he also gives Michele Di Gregorio advice about joining Juventus.

The coach was promoted from the Primavera youth team to the senior job just a few weeks into the club’s debut Serie A season, taking them to two consecutive mid-table finishes.

“It was emotional at the end of the game, as I do care about these lads,” Palladino told DAZN after the 2-0 defeat to Juve.

“I felt it only right to thank everyone, as yesterday I already personally thanked the gardeners, the press staff, everyone. They work behind the scenes, out of the spotlight, and give their all.

“This is a big family, two great seasons, and I had to thank these players for helping me to grow as a coach and a man.”

Palladino is only under contract until June 30, so do all these thanks and salutes mean he is leaving Monza?

“Do you know where I am going the day after tomorrow? To Naples to see my family and rest. We’re exhausted, we gave our all. As I said, I will then speak to the club, evaluate and consider everything.

“In early June, we will decide the future in a relaxed atmosphere.”

Palladino gives Di Gregorio advice

If Palladino’s future is in doubt, then it would seem as if goalkeeper Di Gregorio has already chosen his next club, with multiple reports a transfer to Juventus is agreed for €18m plus bonuses.

“I was able to talk to him in the middle of the pitch afterwards. Being an ex-Juve player, I know the spirit of Juve and what Juventus means, it’s about having a winning mentality. You come here to win.

“I then hugged him and thanked him for everything, he earned us so many points with his saves. No wonder he was named Goalkeeper of the Season in Serie A.”

Monza finish the season in 12th place, though Palladino has been linked with numerous other clubs, including Bologna, Torino, Fiorentina and even FC Porto.
