Crystal Palace are increasingly resigned to losing Marc Guehi as contract negotiations stall, with Arsenal having previously been linked with the centre-back.

Sami Mokbel reports for the Daily Mail that Crystal Palace fear they’re facing a losing battle with Marc Guehi, and they’re increasingly resigned to the fact they may have no option but to sell him in the coming transfer windows.

Guehi’s deal lasts until 2026, so the next two Januarys and one summer in between would be the final chances to sell him if he refuses to extend.

Palace have reportedly tried to initiate talks for such an extension, but they’ve received little encouragement.

Newcastle United are the primary club in for Guehi, having seen offers turned down over the summer. The Magpies bid as much as £70m for the defender, but their proposals were repeatedly rejected.

Newcastle reportedly remain interested in Guehi ahead of the January transfer window, but Arsenal could also be in the mix.

Matt Hughes reported over the summer that Arsenal were on high alert amid news that Guehi might not extend his deal.

The Times wrote that Manchester United and Arsenal had both scouted Guehi, and football journalist Alan Nixon had also reported that the Gunners had joined the race for the defender.

Sami Mokbel himself claimed that Guehi was among Arsenal’s targets in the summer of 2023, though he hasn’t provided an update on the Gunners’ interest this time around.

Perhaps things have changed with the addition of Riccardo Calafiori and the strong form of Gabriel Magalhaes, but it’s one to keep an eye on.
