Paco Alcácer looks likely to Borussia Dortmund this month in an attempt to salvage his Euro 2020 dream.

The arrival of Erling Braut Håland now means that the 26-year old will find himself with limited game time at the Signal Iduna Park.

Håland’s move from Austrian Bundesliga side Red Bull Salzburg has been the story of the transfer window so far, enhanced by an emphatic debut on Saturday when the Norwegian striker came off the bench to score a hat-trick in the 5-3 win over FC Augsburg.

But this has left Spanish striker Alcácer looking in from the outside, and now a move away from Dortmund looks certain to materialise during this transfer window.

Alcácer has played less than 90 minutes of football since the start of November and wasn’t selected in the squad at the weekend.

Despite this, Alcácer has still managed to score seven goals in 15 games so far in the 2019/20 campaign.

Atlético Madrid have been linked with a move for the former Barcelona striker.

A move to the Wanda Metropolitano could surface if Atleti’s long-time pursuit of PSG striker Edinson Cavani fails to take shape in the remaining 10 days of the transfer window.

Alcácer may well engineer a move, particularly with Euro 2020 on the horizon.

The forward missed out on call-ups to the Spanish squad in Euro 2016 and the World Cup in 2018, and with there unlikely to be regular football at club level with the arrival of Håland, a move away from Germany looks likely.

La Liga sides Valencia and Sevilla are also considered to be in the mix for the striker.
