Per reporting of Ouest-France, Marseille’s president, Pablo Longoria, was elected to the board of directors of the Professional Football League (LFP). The LFP is the governing body that controls the professional football leagues in France, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 for example.
In a press conference with Marseille the president stated, “It is a great additional responsibility entrusted to me. As president of Marseille, it was essential for me to be able to participate more directly in the development of French football, alongside all of its representatives. I would like to thank the League and its board of directors for their trust.”
The Spaniards rise up the ladder of the footballing world is quite impressive considering he did not come from a footballing background himself. His early years were spent as a media consultant before taking a job as a scout with New Castle. Shortly after he was made the head scout of Real Club Recreativo de Huelvain February 2009.
Longoria is one of the youngest presidents in OM history. He has made it his goal to make the club one of Europe’s top clubs. As a club president he is known for his work ethic reportedly watching multiple matches per day. He also is said to speak 5 plus languages allowing him to personally communicate with coaches and players from all over the world.
