But maybe we were all sleeping on one worthy candidate the whole time – own goal.

Rùben Dias and Raphaël Guerreiro have both scored own goals in the first half of Portugal’s Group F game with Germany, turning the game in to the Germans favour in Munich.

It now also means that Euro 2020 has seen more own goals (5) than any other European Championship in the history, with the previous record standing at three.

Germany have also made a rare bit of own-goal history.

But not welcome history for Portugal.

What a talent.
