Manchester United fans had to endure another stuttering, frustrating performance as their side drew 1-1 with Burnley at Old Trafford this afternoon.

The Red Devils eventually scored in the 79th minute when Antony netted after an error in the Burnley backline.

However, United then threw away another late lead when Andre Onana clumsily gave away a penalty in the 87th minute.

The home side can count themselves unlucky that VAR refused to intervene over two dubious calls to not award at least one penalty, however, when all is said and done, a functioning Manchester United should not be needing refereeing decisions to see off the 19th placed team in the league at home.

More to the point, the Red Devils need to look in the mirror after they have only won twice in their last five Premier League games at Old Trafford.

Former Champions League winning United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves, poured scorn over his former side’s general play at the Theatre of Dreams, rather than just focusing on today’s wastefulness.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after the game he claimed, “forget about it, there’s no control for Manchester United this season at Old Trafford”.

“They (Burnley) have more possession than Man United at Old Trafford, it’s crazy, you’d never know Burnley were fighting for their life”.

Objectively weaker sides coming to Old Trafford and controlling the play has been an unfortunate hallmark of this horrendous season to date.

The fact that teams such as Brighton, Bournemouth and Fulham have all come to Old Trafford and deservedly won the match tells its own story.

The former England international also had some choice words for Casemiro’s involvement in the period of play which led to the penalty decision being given in the visitor’s favour.

The Brazilian international inexplicably headed the ball into an incredibly dangerous area that led to Andre Onana coming out and taking out an opposition attacker.

“That header from Casemiro is unbelievable. I don’t know what he’s thinking. “Obviously, Onana comes out and clatters into Amdouni, but that header from Casemiro — it’s just not on”.

United now have some time to reflect and recover as they must wait nine days before they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday 6th May, as they look to hold onto sixth place in the table.
