🎮 Overpowered: The most annoying FIFA Ultimate Team XI ever

Article image:🎮 Overpowered: The most annoying FIFA Ultimate Team XI ever

Ever since FIFA 10, the most beloved game mode has been Ultimate Team. And it hasn’t even been close.

Over the past decade, there have been more than a few players that have been overpowered. To say the least. Players who haven’t shone in the real world, like Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but have played like all-time greats on the console.

Here is our most annoying and most overpowered FUT XI.

Goalkeeper

Jack Butland (Stoke City, FIFA 17)

Who is Manuel Neuer? Who is Gianluigi Buffon? Stoke’s Jack Butland, rated 82, trumped all. He may be the best FIFA goalkeeper ever.

It felt, no joke, like he was eight foot tall and had eight arms.

Defence

Taye Taiwo (AC Milan, FIFA 12)

As quick as the wind and built like a bulldozer, Taye Taiwo (79) was an affordable nightmare for anyone who came across him. Into the virtual Hall of Fame he goes.

David Luiz (Chelsea, FIFA 14)

Choosing David Luiz was straightforward. Deciding which version was a harder decision. We’ve plumped for FIFA 14’s David Luiz, rated 82. Any corner that landed on his head ended up in the back of the net.

Dedé (Vasco da Gama, FIFA 13)

You want three things from a centre-back on Ultimate Team. More than 80 pace, more than 80 defending, more than 80 physically. Dedé had it all and, thanks to the fact he played in Brazil, wasn’t even expensive. A cornerstone of any Brazilian team.

Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid, FIFA 20)

From this year’s edition of FIFA, we have Ferland Mendy. Back when the game was released in September he quickly became the go-to left-back and, despite being rated 80, still costs 11,000 coins in April. No wonder: he’s quick, he’s persistent, and he has skills like a playmaker.

Midfield

Víctor Ibarbo (Roma, FIFA 15)

When Roma had the most annoying front three in the history of the FIFA franchise. Ibarbo played on the right and played like peak Arjen Robben. His overall rating of just 78 was far too low given his 91 pace and his physical attributes.

Tiemoué Bakayoko (FC Chelsea, FIFA 18)

Bakayoko was a flop at Chelsea, that much is clear. But in FIFA 18, the Frenchman dominated midfield and nobody’s really sure why, effortlessly pulling the plug on any attack.

Fredy Guarín (Inter, FIFA 14)

The definition of an all-rounder. Guarín was rated 75 or more across the board and could’ve excelled in any position other than in goal. His long-range shooting made him a huge threat going forward and, thanks to his 81 rating, he was affordable.

Gervinho (Roma, FIFA 15)

You can’t have Ibarbo without Gervinho. The 81-rated Ivorian wasn’t a great finisher but with 93 pace he was even quicker than his Colombian team-mate. His dribbling meant he wasn’t just quick but also incredibly tricky and almost impossible to stop.

Forwards

Alexander Esswein (1. FC Nürnberg, FIFA 13)

With a 75-rating, Esswein has the lowest overall rating of any player here. But on FIFA 13 only one thing mattered. Pace. Esswein had plenty and that’s why you could find him in so many teams.

Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa, FIFA 10)

From the very first Ultimate Team edition, Agbonlahor was everything you could dream of. Ridiculously quick and lethal in front of goal. This man is a FUT legend.
