Over 1,500 see Exeter City win FA Women’s National League thriller | OneFootball

There were a few attendances in the hundreds in the FA Women’s National League but Exeter City topped the big turnouts with over 1,500 at St James Park.

NORTHERN PREMIER DIVISION

Wolves went second in the table after putting five goals past Fylde by half time, Destiney Toussaint with three of them. Stourbridge drew the Midlands clash with Stoke, Zoe Clarke grabbing a 95th-minute leveller.

Most of the division’s fixtures were postponed due to the tragic passing of Maddy Cusack earlier this week.

SOUTHERN PREMIER DIVISION

Hashtag United 3-0 London Bees (Att: 82) Ipswich Town 8-0 Cheltenham Town (Att: 541) Milton Keynes Dons 1-1 Billericay Town Portsmouth 4-0 Oxford United (Att: 645) Rugby Borough 6-2 Plymouth Argyle

The top four all won, leaving Hashtag United as leaders after beating London Bees. Ipswich thrashed Cheltenham 8-0, Natasha Thomas accounting for half that tally. Portsmouth had a big turn out for the win over Oxford, Danielle Lane scoring their first two goals. Rugby ran in four sec0nd-half goals in seeing off Plymouth, Katy Morris and Lily Greenslade getting braces. Billericay draw at MK Dons to stay a point ahead of them in the top half.

DIVISION 1 MIDLANDS

Boldmere St Michaels 4-1 Leek Town (Att: 47) Leafield Athletic 0-6 Loughborough Lightning Notts County 0-4 Solihull Moors (Att: 94) Peterborough United 4-0 Sheffield FC (Att: 554) Sporting Khalsa 6-2 Northampton Town (Att: 100) Sutton Coldfield Town 3-1 Lincoln City (Att: 49)

Six-goal Loughborough Lightning remain in pole position, but Peterborough United and Solihull Moors kept up the pace with clear wins also, the latter victorious at Notts County who had Emma Scoffham sent off early in the second half.

DIVISION 1 NORTH

All the top five drew, leaders Barnsley held by Middlesbrough but still above Hull City and Leeds United on goal-difference, who drew at Stockport and Chorley respectively. Doncaster’s 3-1 result at Norton took them into the top half, Durham Cestria just behind them after defeating FC United.

Norwich City took over at the top with a 5-1 win at Actonians, replacing Ashford Town who had to settle for a point at London Seaward. Five-goal Worthing went third, AFC Wimbledon won a goalfest at the Abbey Stadium and a Grace Stanley double secured QPR victory at Cambridge City.

DIVISION 1 SOUTH WEST

AFC Bournemouth scored five times for a fifth win in five at Torquay, Exeter City’s fourth victory in a row came in front of over 1,500 at St James Park, Keynsham hit double-figures against struggling Selsey.
