Ipswich Town had an attendance of 10,173 as they beat Chatham Town 5-0 in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.

The result means Chatham are now confirmed as relegated, while Plymouth Argyle, Billericay Town and Cheltenham Town are consequently all safe.

It was a difficult afternoon for the Kent side, who lost Lenny Priest early on when sustaining an open wound from a clash of heads.

Natasha Thomas fired Ipswich ahead via the post and Sophie Peskett doubled the advantage, which should have been three before the break. but Simone Eligon saved Bonnie Horwood’s penalty.

Thomas got her second, Lenna Gunning-Williams made it 4-0, Otesha Charles hit the post for Chatham, before Summer Hughes wrapped up the scoring.

Meanwhile in the Saturday evening game, Doncaster Rovers Belles defeated Chester le Street Town 3-1 in Division 1 North, in front of 723 at the Eco-Power Stadium.

Belles’ Hannah McWilliams tapped in after Mollie Barlow’s shot was spilled by Ellie Sharpe, Megumi Shenton made her debut from the bench and doubled the lead with her first touch. The visitors’ Jasmin Badillo was sent off after a clash with Lindsey Tugby-Andrew, who was booked. Laura Hockaday did pull a goal back but Jasmine Saxton struck to ensure a home win.

Chester le Street stay just one point above the drop zone, having played a game more than York City who are immediately below them.
