Jamie Carragher has hailed Manchester United’s performance in the Manchester derby, describing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side as ‘out of this world’.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial scored two quick-fire goals within the first half-hour as the visitors blew away Man City at the Etihad, a display of attacking football that Carragher described as ‘devastating’ and secured the platform for a memorable 2-1 victory.
It was a hugely impressive performance from Manchester United following an indifferent start to the season, and Carragher has lauded their showing as the best performance any side has produced away to the Premier League champions in the past few seasons.
“I think it is the best 30 minutes I have seen anyone play City in the past three years,” Carragher said on Sky’s Monday Night Football.
“Liverpool at Anfield, certainly, but this was away. I thought it was devastating and this was Manchester United at their best. It’s quality football at 100mph.
“A lot has been made of Manchester City but even City at their best, I think they would have found this difficult. At the weekend (United) were out of this world.”
United will look to continue the momentum from their derby victory when they host AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night before the visit of Everton at the weekend.
