Transfer-linked Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen on Thursday crossed paths with the player set to replace him as the club’s no.1 for the very first time.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who of course point towards Joan García as the player in question.
Shot-stopper Joan put pen to paper on terms with Barcelona last month, following a starring season with Catalan rivals Espanyol.
The widespread understanding is that the 24-year-old was brought in to act as the new first-choice between the posts in Hansi Flick’s squad for next season and beyond.
With Wojciech Szczęsny having also put pen to paper on a contract extension at the Camp Nou, the aforementioned Marc-André ter Stegen therefore finds himself as the odd man out.
The German is set to be informed by manager Flick over the days ahead that he is no longer needed at Barcelona.
And as alluded to above, earlier today, Ter Stegen was involved in what was no doubt an awkward exchange with his replacement.
As per a report from MD, after reporting for pre-season three days early:
‘At the club’s facilities, Ter Stegen met with Joan Garcia, who has been signed to be the first-choice goalkeeper this season.’
