FC Barcelona once again proved their credentials in the UEFA Champions League as they won the first leg of the quarter-final tie against Borussia Dortmund with a 4-0 scoreline.

This was undoubtedly a great result for the Blaugranes, as it all but secures a place for them in the semi-final stage of the premier European competition for the first time since 2019.

But this must have been a more memorable night for one player in the Catalan team in particular, i.e., the forward Ansu Fati, as he returned to the pitch for the first time since January 4th. But still, he was subbed on only when Barcelona were already four goals up against their opponents and only got to play the last four minutes.

The Spaniard has not even been named in several squad lists for Hansi Flick in recent months, and it is clear that he is not going to get a lot of opportunities under the German coach going forward.

As a result, SPORT reports that both the player and his entourage have decided to leave the Blaugrana club at the end of this season, even though he has a contract till 2027.

The winger has already told his agent, Jorge Mendes, to find a new team for him and to negotiate a release from Barcelona, as this time he wants to leave permanently, and not on a loan as he did two years ago.

This new position from Fati is quite in contrast to his earlier stance when he wanted to stay at the Catalan club. This year, he has also not faced as many physical problems as he did in recent years, and thus, his entourage is quite confused with his lack of minutes. They believe Flick was planning on using him in December, but did not do so because of some anger with the winger.

Fati returned to Barcelona last year from his loan in England with high hopes of getting an important role under Flick. But the season has not really gone exactly as planned for him, as he has played only 9 games so far, starting only 1.
