Manchester United are reportedly out of the race to sign Erling Haaland.

The Borussia Dortmund striker is set to have his €75m release clause become active this summer.

A swathe of Europe's biggest clubs have been linked with the 21-year-old.

United have held long-term interest in Haaland, having tried to sign him from RB Salzburg before he joined Dortmund in January 2020.

However, ESPN says sources at Old Trafford believe Haaland is determined to join Real Madrid.

Senior figures at United believe they are not in a position to persuade Haaland or his advisors about joining the club.

Haaland is wary of joining United when they are a club in transition and are not guaranteed qualification to the Champions League.

Thus, the Premier League giants are now looking at other attacking options to pursue this summer.

Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial are expected to depart, while Cristiano Ronaldo turns 37 next month.

Manchester City, PSG, Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all shown interest in signing Haaland.

City have the financial firepower to meet Haaland's £30m-per-year wage demands, but it is believed the former Molde man is keen on moving to the Santiago Bernabeu.
