Ousmane Touré set to miss entire season for Lille

Lille OSC have confirmed that Ousmane Touré (20) suffered a serious injury during the 3-3 draw with Stade Brestois on Sunday afternoon. The defender filling in at right-back due to injuries and illness to Aïssa Mandi, Tiago Santos, and Thomas Meunier had to come off midway through the second half.

Lille have since revealed that the defender ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will require surgery to solve the problem. Lille explained that “he will face a long period of unavailability” as these injuries require a lengthy rehabilitation period, while La Voix du Nord reports that he could miss the rest of the season.

This could mean that Bruno Génésio will turn to the teenager Maxima Goffi (17) as he did on Sunday, although Santos should soon be back in action after the Portuguese youth international’s return from a lengthy spell on the sidelines following an ACL injury was temporarily delayed by a sore throat.
