Ousmane Dembélé’s renewal has become a complicated affair at the Barcelona offices. The Frenchman continues to play mind games with the club, for he is neither taking steps to renew, nor announcing his desire to leave.

The player’s contract at Barcelona ends in June 2022. Just over six months remain before Barcelona’s big-money signing leaves on a free deal, and no extension has been announced.

Xavi Hernandez has tried to convince the winger multiple times. Not only has the new coach talked about the 24-year-old’s importance publicly, but also talked personally with the Frenchman to convince him to renew.

Though Dembélé continues to say he wishes to continue, Mundo Deportivo state that the player and his agent’s thoughts are in another line.

The former Borrusia Dortmund star has received offers from the Premier League and is now considering them seriously. This is mainly because his environment feels that Barcelona’s offer is underwhelming economically.

Newcastle United are said to be in pole position to sign the player in the summer. The Magpies offer him not only €15 million for the move but also an additional bonus of €15 million. The offer is said to be tempting the winger.

Moreover, Manchester United have asked the player to run down his contract at Barcelona too. The Red Devil’s are looking to sign the Frenchman on a free transfer, and the economic offer could be enough to lure him.

At Barcelona, the board refuses to give up. The club are confident that an agreement can be found. They will have to be quick, however, as Dembélé can officially negotiate with other clubs in just over a month.
