More Champions League action continued on Wednesday with clubs from the Premier League and the Bundesliga impressing in particular.

Here is what we made of it all.

Potter ball really clicking at Chelsea

There was plenty of pressure on new Chelsea boss Graham Potter heading into the club’s home clash against Milan.

The Premier League side sat bottom of Group E with only one point to their name while the leaders from Serie A were unbeaten.

But the new boss got his gameplan virtually inch-perfect as the Blues cruised their way to a 3-0 win. It was the first time Potter managed in the Champions League too (against seven-time winner no less).

The result means Chelsea now have some hope after it all seemed so grim when they dropped points in shocking fashion against RB Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb under Thomas Tuchel.

Looks like the Potter era is just getting started.

Haaland mania continues

It took Manchester City only seven minutes to find the back of the net against F.C. Copenhagen in England and we’re confident you don’t even have to check to know who scored this one.

Erling Haaland found the net twice on the night during 45 minutes of action at the Etihad and his stock continues to rise at an impressive rate.

The 22-year-old now has 28 Champions League goals to his name with Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 141 already well in sight.

Manchester City surely solved their apparent striker issue when they signed Haaland from Dortmund.

And barring any substantial injury issues could he be enough talent to propel them to European victory? It’s not too unlikely, really.

PSG stars still have plenty to prove

One of the biggest shocks of the night saw Benfica draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Portugal despite complete dominance from the visitors.

The Ligue 1 side had 15 shots, seven on target and 65% possession across 90 minutes but could not find a way to maintain their perfect record in the competition.

The recent slip-up is a slight concern for the club as they played the majority of the match with some of the biggest players in football including their star attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.

They have not been at their best in France, either.

So even though they may be the best side on paper, PSG have not quite proven themselves this season as potential title contenders.

Real Madrid’s Achilles’ heel

Real Madrid were handed a significant blow heading into the clash against Shakhtar Donetsk with Thibaut Courtois ruled out.

And while the reigning champions were initially cruising at the Santiago Bernabéu, the match turned on its head and their Achilles’ heel has been exposed.

Oleksandr Zubkov volleyed home for 2-1 meaning backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has yet to keep a clean sheet in any of his appearances.

The injured Belgian, meanwhile, has been the hero on multiple occasions for Madrid including in last season’s Champions League notably winning Player of the Match in the final.

But if Carlo Ancelotti’s go-to starter is unfit – and with no reliable goalkeeper to fill his place – the club could be in a dangerous situation.

Bellingham continues to shine

Dortmund cruised past Sevilla in Spain thanks to a particularly strong performance from one man: Jude Bellingham.

The 19-year-old was captaining his side in the Champions League and played a vital role in the opening two goals after setting up Raphael Guerreiro and dancing through defenders to score on his own.

The midfielder made Champions League history in the process in more than one way too.

He is the youngest Englishman to captain a side in the competition, is the second teen to score on each of the first three matchdays of a season and also has more assists (4) than any other English player since the beginning of last season.

Bellingham is surely on the plane to Qatar, but can he keep up his form on the biggest stage of all? England fans will sure hope so.
