Our 3️⃣ points as pressure mounts on Graham Potter after Chelsea draw

Chelsea could only claim a goalless draw at home to Fulham on Friday as more pressure was put on coach Graham Potter.

The hosts, despite their big-spending in January, looked blunt in front of goal with serious questions needing to be asked about the set-up under their relatively new manager.

Couldn’t finish their dinner

After all those deals made and money spent, Chelsea still look like a side in need of something.

That something being a forward who can actually finish chances.

Kai Havertz was the man who led the line tonight and not for the first time in his Blues career, the Germany international struggled in front of goal.

Noni Madueke and David Datro Fofana came on in the second half to try and stir things but Fulham stayed resolute until the end.

It’s become a worrying pattern for Chelsea under Graham Potter – enjoy lots of possession but look lost as soon as they get into the final third.

That vicious circle needs to change, and soon, because billionaire owners of football clubs aren’t exactly famed for their patience.

The kid’s alright

Enzo Fernandez made his debut this evening as the most expensive player in British football history.

And for a first 90 performance at Stamford Bridge, it was very impressive.

The World Cup winner covered almost every blade of grass in midfield, went charging into challenges when needed an almost scored late on with a lovely curled effort.

As it was though, the real star of the show for the home side was Benoit Badiashile.

The young centre-back arrived from Monaco this month to not a huge amount of fanfare but has already shown that he has the abilities to sit at the heart of Chelsea’s defence for the next decade.

What was Graham Potter thinking when he dropped Badiashile from his Champions League squad?

Muddied the waters

After impressing in his brief cameo against Liverpool last time, hopes were high that Mykhailo Mudryk would shine on his full home debut this evening.

The reality couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Ukraine international was virtually anonymous in the first half against Fulham, struggling to make any impact in the game and looking lost up against Kenny Tete in the Cottagers’ defence.

Every player is allowed a bad game, of course, especially when you are completely new to your team and the league.

But Mudryk’s 45 minutes here were shocking.

A complete lack of spark, never able to show his pace and seemingly on a completely different page to his team-mates.

It’s no wonder that Graham Potter felt the need to take him off at the break and hand Noni Madueke his debut.

Chelsea need much more from their €90m man.
