Here’s what we made of it.

Sancho is back!

This wasn’t a particularly good performance from Manchester United and despite the comeback, fans will be disappointed that the side didn’t take all three points.

Yet there was one major positive to take from Wednesday evening’s performance and that a comeback goal for Jadon Sancho.

Supporters had welcomed the 22-year-old back with open arms after it had been revealed he was struggling ‘physically and mentally.’

The Englishman made his comeback after 102 days out in the League Cup final second leg win over Nottingham Forest last week, and Erik ten Hag was pleased with what he saw.

“The fans like his game and he is a brilliant football player,” said the Man Utd boss earlier this week. “We are happy to have him back because he can contribute with his creativity, speed and intelligence. He can decide football games and that is also what we expect from him. He will do just that.”

That message turned out to be prophetic, as the boss introduced the forward just before the hour mark, and by the 70th minute he had his goal.

And Sancho now has something to build upon as he pushes for a place in the starting lineup.

New manager bounce

The timing of sacking Leeds boss Jesse Marsch raised a few eyebrows, with a clash against rivals Manchester United looming.

Yet caretaker Michael Skubala rose to the occasion, and really gave the home side a scare when Leeds scored early in both halves of the match.

That was the first time the Yorkshiremen had been two goals ahead against Man Utd at Old Trafford since February 1974, and whilst the inability to defend that lead will be disappointing, the result was hugely positive considering the circumstances.

Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani hinted that an announcement regarding the new boss will be made soon, and this will give the new man confidence that he can turn this side’s fortunes around.

Casemiro is hugely missed

Sine arriving at Old Trafford, Casemiro has been the glue that’s held the side together, and the Brazilian was truly missed this evening.

Man Utd looked disjoined and disorganised without their midfield maestro, and the bad news is that he’s got two more games of his ban to serve before he can return to the side.

A look at the stats shows that Ten Hag’s men average 2.3 points-per-game and concede 0.7 goals when Casemiro has started in the Premier League, but without him the figures are hugely different.

Man Utd have only earned 1.4 points-per-game and have conceded an average of 2.1 goals without the Brazilian ace in the team.

It looks like the boss needs to learn how to play without him, and quickly.
