One down, two to go for City

This of course looked like an easy win for Man City in theory, but these end of season clashes can often throw up freak results when the pressure is really on.

Yet this side was simply too efficient on the day for any kind of nerves and put on a show of real dominance as they put four past Fulham away from home.

Phil Foden once again made the difference with his 12th goal in as many league appearances, while Kevin De Bruyne equalled Cesc Fàbregas as the second-highest all-time assist maker in the Premier League with a total of 111.

Make no mistake, this was a display of force from Pep Guardiola and his team, and it seems like they are coming into top form at exactly the right moment.

This 4-0 victory was the seventh consecutive league game in which they have won by two goals or more, and Tottenham would be right to be worried ahead of their fixture with City on Tuesday night.

Gvardiol proving the doubters wrong

Manchester City paid just shy of the transfer record for a defender when they signed Joško Gvardiol from RB Leipzig in 2023.

His first 32 games for his new side saw him fail to score a goal, and there were plenty who were questioning the wisdom of the £77m fee.

Yet the Croatian is still only 22, and has suddenly sparked into life with a flurry of goals – five in his last seven in fact.

This was a superb performance from Gvardiol, and he even turned down a chance for a hat-trick when he left the taking of the stoppage time penalty to team-mate Julian Álvarez.

There’s undoubtedly more to come from this youngster.

Fulham on the beach?

This felt like a typical end of season game for Fulham, who were pictured flying kites in training during the week.

Perhaps it was a game that they never could’ve won, considering their status safely in mid table, and their opponents going all guns blazing for the title.

The home side had just one shot on goal and 35% of the play, and in truth they never looked threatening.

It was one to forget for boss Marco Silva, who had lost his last ten consecutive games against City, with no manager having ever before lost more games against a single opponent in the Premier League.
