Kevin De Bruyne is back

Manchester City have missed him dearly but boy he is back!

At certain times this season City have seemed like they have bowed themselves out of the title race, with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool all at points having daylight between themselves and the Cityzens.

With a fully-fit De Bruyne at their disposal, this would not have been the case.

You just knew that when the Belgian international stepped onto the turf at St James’ Park, with the score favouring Newcastle at 2-1, that he was going to stamp his authority on this tie.

And that he did.

A smart finish into the bottom left corner from outside the box to level and a pinpoint cross to Bobb in the 91st minute to win the game, is proof that the 31-year-old is back and means business.

Arsenal, Liverpool and to an extent Aston Villa fans, will no doubt be nervous about his emphatic return.

Newcastle can score but can’t win

Despite the end result, Newcastle were at their attacking best against City.

Especially in the first half they looked dangerous on every attack, with Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak’s pace causing havoc.

The Geordies quick fire double in the first half from Isak and Gordon were exquisite finishes and it demonstrates just how dangerous this Newcastle team can be when they’re on it.

However the issue remains that they just can’t seem to see out games.

Excluding their 3-0 derby win over Sunderland in the FA Cup, Newcastle have won just one of their last seven Premier League games.

It’s pretty woeful form considering they’ve faced off against the likes of Everton, Luton Town and Nottingham Forest in that spell, and have lost all three of those games.

Eddie Howe and Co. need to have a think about tweaking the formula slightly and maybe sacrificing some of the constant exuberant attacks in order to try and see out games.

There’s a new superstar emerging at City

The man of the hour.

Oscar Bobb was the one to pop up with the late winner for his side, which has firmly put Manchester City back in the hunt for the Premier League title.

The 20-year-old has had something of a break out year in Sky Blue, making 14 appearances in all competitions scoring two goals and notching two assist.

His winner was the epitome of close control, effortlessly bringing down the ball from De Bruyne, he calmly rounded the oncoming Martin Dúbravka and stuck the ball into the net within two touches.

Having also scored his first Champions League goal this season against Red Star Belgrade, it is clear to see that the future is incredible bright for the Norwegian.

His late winner also came with its own bit of history, ensuring City became the fourth side in Premier League history to have won at least three successive away games despite trailing in each one.

You have the feeling that with De Bruyne back and with youngsters like Bobb at their disposal, that City could be about to go on a ruthless streak.
