👏 They’ll be fine

Another week of watching Brentford, another week we leave impressed.

The Bees secured another brilliant result here and what becomes instantly clear is how well coached they are by Thomas Frank – we’re SURE that survival is already secure.

David Raya, Kristoffer Ajer, Frank Onyeka and Ivan Toney form such a strong spine, but what we like is that they are a well-rounded side with players who contribute all over.

You can feel their excitement at finally being in the Premier League and they’re giving it everything they’ve got.

🧐 Cause for concern?

Jürgen Klopp will have been pleased with his side’s offensive efforts – they could have scored six tonight with some better finishing – but defensively there were issues.

And there were no injuries to blame tonight. They were playing their first choice back four with Fabinho and Henderson ahead, and were still left exposed (particularly in central areas).

Liverpool play an intense game that requires pressing and extremely advanced positioning from their full backs, so it’s natural that some gaps could be exploited at times.

But some things may need tweaking if a team just promoted from the Championship are finding those gaps with ease.

👑 The Egyptian King

Sadio Mané scoring 100 goals for Liverpool last week was an amazing achievement. Mohamed Salah scoring 100 Premier League goals is even more incredible.

Eyebrows were raised when it cost £34m to prise him away from Roma but you could treble that fee and still claim value on what he has produced in four years.

In an increasingly partisan world of football fandom, not even his or Liverpool’s detractors can deny that he is a top flight great.
