David Otto is leaving Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim and joining second-tier outfit FC St. Pauli with immediate effect. The 23-year-old forward, who spent last season on loan at Jahn Regensburg, had a contract with Hoffenheim that was set to expire on 30 June 2023.

The attacker, who made three Bundesliga appearances for TSG, made the move to the club's youth academy from his hometown club 1. FC 08 Birkenfeld while still an U14 player. In 2018, Otto signed his first professional contact at the age of 18. The striker regularly trained with the senior squad towards the end of the first half of the 2017/18 campaign, and made his professional debut in the 1-1 draw with Bulgarians Ludogorets in the Europa League. In 2018/19, Otto helped the U19s reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Youth League. The seasons that followed saw the former U20 international (seven appearances, three goals) join 2. Bundesliga clubs 1. FC Heidenheim and SSV Jahn Regensburg, where he got some important minutes under his belt, on loan. In total, Otto made 66 appearances and scored five goals in the second tier.
