The Three Lions headed into their final group against a star-studded Netherlands side level on four points with their opponents, but blew them away in a stunning 4-1 win.

Alan Shearer and Teddy Sheringham both grabbed braces, but it was the former's second strike that is best remembered from one of the truly great days at the old iteration of the famous stadium.

England fell to Germany on penalties once more at the semi-final stage, but it's a summer that will never be forgotten by those who experienced it.
