Chivas and Mexico goalkeeping legend Oswaldo Sánchez revealed in a recent interview that he had the luxury of rejecting three different offers from clubs in the Premier League and LaLiga.
Despite earning 99 caps with El Tri and featuring in three World Cups, Sánchez never ended up playing outside of Mexico, spending his entire career with Atlas, América, Chivas, and Santos Laguna.
In total, Sánchez won four trophies and took home the league’s best goalkeeper award a stunning seven times.
In an interview with JUGOtv, Sánchez claimed to have rejected a trio of European offers, as none of them ever convinced him entirely.
“I had the opportunity to go to Getafe, Bolton, and Recreativo de Huelva. But, every proposal only offered me half the money I was earning in Mexico.
“It is good that we like to play and I wanted to play in Europe, but they needed to splash the cash.”
Including national team caps, Sánchez made an incredible 824 first-team appearances for club and country over the course of his career.
