Football League World's Blades Fan Pundit has weighed in on the future of Ryan One as Ipswich circle.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Conversations surrounding the future of Liam Delap at Ipswich Town have increased greatly in recent weeks, with the Tractor Boys looking destined for a return to the Championship after one season in the Premier League.
With Southampton's relegation already confirmed, it looks incredibly likely that all three sides who were promoted from the second tier in 2023/24 will drop back down to the division for the next campaign, with the top players at those clubs sure to be targeted in the summer.
Ipswich's incredible young striker is just one of those who looks destined for an exit, with the 22-year-old available to other teams for just £30m after it emerged that he has a release clause in his contract that is activated if the Suffolk outfit are relegated.
However, they will be in the market for a replacement if he does depart, and Sheffield United may just have the player that Kieran McKenna is looking for as he prepares for life back in the Championship.
The Blades are in the midst of their own battle, and with just weeks to go in the 2024/25 campaign, they will be hoping that they can make it across the line and win promotion back to the Premier League.
Chris Wilder has his work cut out to ensure that he is able to achieve this, and their clash against Burnley in their third to last game will be a huge one, with the whole squad needed in the run-in.
This includes Ryan Oné, who is one of the names that Ipswich are interested in if they do lose Delap this summer, despite playing a relatively small role this season in South Yorkshire.
Football League World has asked their Sheffield United Fan Pundit, Jimmy from The Blades Ramble channel on YouTube, if he believes the 18-year-old is good enough to lead the line for the Tractor Boys, and the fee that should be asked for if a move does happen.
And Jimmy believes that the club should be looking at the type of cash that was brought in for young forward Will Osula last summer, as he made the move to Newcastle United in an eight-figure deal.
He told FLW: "Ryan Oné is very raw. He's got all the tools to be a really strong player, quite literally. I think he's, he's strong, he's quick, he's a physical presence. He's just a huge kid.
"You can tell he's got a bit of pace about him as well, he's got everything he needs to become a top player, and at such a young age, it's deceptively young, really, because he's built like a 23-year-old, so they certainly would be buying potential."
Jimmy continued: "I wouldn't sell him unless we get what we would now call Will Osula money (he was sold to Newcastle United last summer for £10 million, potentially rising to £15 million).
"If Ipswich come in, which they'll have the money to do if they get £30m for Liam Delap, if they come in and smack £15m down we'll take it, but I won't be selling him for anything less than that, to be honest.
"With such a huge prospect on our hands, I'm not sure Oné will realise his potential at Sheffield United, but I think you will get to the stage where he'll become a much brighter prospect even more than he is currently and then we could be commanding an even higher fee."
The teenager has made a bright start to life in the senior game, and Wilder has tried his best to include him as much as possible, but experience has been needed for the most part this season due to the Blades' position in the division.
Sheffield United are stacked in the striker department this season, and only added to it during the January transfer window, meaning that Oné will find it tougher than ever to find a way into the starting XI.
Promotion could also see him head out on loan as the Blades will need to bolster their forward options significantly to avoid another relegation from the Premier League.
If Ipswich are willing to spend a significant portion of their Delap money on the Scottish striker, then this summer may be the time to sell, especially with the likes of Tom Cannon looking to prove themselves in the top flight.
