Although Victor Osimhen turns down the €70m offer from Al-Ahli, it does show PSG, Arsenal and Chelsea that Napoli are prepared to offer less than half the release clause.

The situation is becoming desperate for the Partenopei and the player, who signed a new contract in December 2023.

When it was penned, the plan was always to sell this summer for the €130m release clause, so Napoli would not have to shoulder the €10m per season wages.

However, nobody has come close to that figure and agent Roberto Calenda declared via X, formerly known as Twitter, that he had “much to do in Europe,” meaning he would reject the Saudi Pro League proposals.

Realistic Osimhen price-tag has now been set

RMC Sport do note that what this development means is that Napoli effectively confessed they will accept just €70m including add-ons to sell the Nigeria international.

They had been hoping for at least €100m plus add-ons, but with Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal all holding back, that seems improbable.

The transfer deadline is on Friday August 30 and time is running out to get Osimhen a new club.

It has been said many times in the Italian and French media that his preferred destination is PSG, whereas Chelsea are low on the list of priorities because they are not in the Champions League.
