After finishing 15th in the 2018 Liga MX Apertura season, well outside the Liguilla places, Xolos have announced that former FC Dallas boss Oscar Pareja has been appointed manager for the upcoming campaign.

In addition to former MLS players Erick ‘Cubo’ Torres and Miller Bolaños, Pareja will reunite with former FCD winger Fabian Castillo.

According to ESPN’s Eric Gomez, Pareja is working to bring ‘at least’ three FCD players to Tijuana.

Pareja and FCD parted ways last week after he managed the club to four post-season appearances in five seasons.

After leading the Western Conference for much of the season, FCD finished in fourth place and lost four straight matches to end 2018 – including a shock loss in the Knockout Round to 10-man Portland Timbers.

Under Pareja, FC Dallas won a domestic double in 2016, winning both the Supporters’ Shield and the U.S. Open Cup title.

In 2015, Pareja led FCD to the Western Conference Finals after winning the regular-season conference title.

Pareja started the first two years of his managerial career with the Colorado Rapids.
