What once sounded like an unrealistic dream is getting closer and closer to being made official: Oscar is about to become a Flamengo player.
After long conversations and plenty of patience, Shanghai Port finally allowed Oscar to go on loan and he could start training at Ninho do Urubu this week.
There is still the bureaucratic part and documentation so that everything will become concrete.
With the desire to wear the Flamengo shirt, Oscar was persistent to get the thumbs up from the Chinese side, who didn’t want to loan him to another club.
Initially, Shanghai had already agreed to allow Oscar to return to Brazil until December, to accompany his wife’s pregnancy. The release, however, did not allow him to play for another club.
However, the situation has since been reversed and it appears Oscar is just days away from joining the club and returning to the football spotlight.
Of course, Oscar had to agree to drastically reduce his mammoth salary in order to come to Rio de Janeiro.
The 30-year-old Oscar has a contract with Shanghai Port until the end of 2023. Initially, the loan will run until December 2022 but the player and his agents are trying to extend the loan until the middle of next year.
