Oscar Bobb has been out due to injury ever since Manchester City’s FA Community Shield win over Manchester United on the eve of the 24/25 season. The young winger has since returned to training as he works his way back to full fitness. Ahead of Manchester City’s 3-1 win over Club Brugge Pep Guardiola did tell the media that Bobb was edging closer to returning to the pitch. But since then the Norwegian international is yet to feature in the Manchester City squad. Now, a new report has emerged that shows why Bobb hasn’t yet returned to the City matchday squad.

Before Manchester City’s 2-1 win over Leyton Orient yesterday Jack Gaughan reported on his official X account that Oscar Bobb has suffered an ankle injury. The injury isn’t thought to be serious as per Gaughan’s report.

Given that Oscar Bobb is coming back from a serious injury it isn’t a surprise that he has suffered a minor set back. That is a common occurrence when a player returns from a serious injury. But the relief is that the injury suffered by Bobb isn’t a complication related to the fractured leg he suffered earlier this season. It is a minor setback for the Norwegian international but it isn’t a major cause for concern.

Oscar Bobb will return for Manchester City when he is fully fit and ready to contribute. That may be some way off yet but there is nothing to gain from rushing the young winger back from injury. Although he has suffered a setback on his comeback he is slowly working his way back to full fitness.
